The Nandua Lady Braves competed for the middle school basketball championship on Thursday night after an impressive undefeated regular season. The team, coached by Mike Bono, went 6-0 against teams in the district. They were led offensively by Ellery Giddens, who averaged 18 points per game.

The Lady Braves were matched up against the Arcadia Lady Panthers, coached by Monica Dickerson in Thursday night’s battle for the tournament championship. After being beaten twice in the regular season, the Panthers were determined to claim their victory over the Braves.

Arcadia came out hot with a 14-4 lead, but Nandua was not going down easy. In the fourth quarter, this nail-biter had fans on their feet and cheering for their team. Nandua brought themselves back into the game, only down by 5 as the final buzzer sounded. Unable to finish their perfect season, Nandua was defeated by a motivated and explosive Arcadia team with a final score of 16-21.

The Arcadia Panthers were pumped to be taking the Middle School Girls Basketball Championship Trophy back to Oak Hall.
