Mr. Ralph Leon Godwin, 84, husband of Linda Shrieves Godwin and a resident of Bloxom, passed away at his home Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021.

Born March 15, 1937, in Hallwood, Ralph was the son of the late Norman James Godwin Sr. and the late Ella Watson Godwin. He worked at C&P Telephone Company for 20 years, followed by owning and operating both Metompkin Contracting and Godwin’s Plants and Produce. His hard work ethic was evident throughout his life and obvious to all who knew him.

Ralph was a former trustee and deacon at Bethel Baptist Church in Bloxom, and had recently attended Drummondtown Baptist Church in Accomac. He was a longtime member of Onancock Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1766; an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed attending races when possible; and served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau and the former Metompkin Bank & Trust Company.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Judy L. Godwin; his son, Ralph L. Godwin Jr.; and his sisters and brothers, Mary G. Young, Sarah G. Koss, Norman James Godwin Jr., Gene E. Godwin, and William Godwin.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Rodney L. Godwin, and his wife, Vanessa, of Parksley; his granddaughter, Sara L. Godwin; sister-in-law, Norma G. Godwin, of Bloxom; stepchildren, Lisa Stover and her husband, Kent, Mark Coulbourne and his wife, Selina, and Jamie Coulbourne; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Goga, Hannah, Samantha, Sawyer, Whitney and Addison Coulbourne, and Brandy Pruitt; step-great-grandchildren, Rilynn and Levi; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. David Denny officiating. Interment will follow at the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
