Coastal Storm Expected Monday; Weather Advisories in Effect

The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va., has issued a briefing as of Jan. 2, 5:15 p.m., in regards to the potential winter weather event this coming Monday.

The weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for Accomack County for Monday, Jan. 3, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. A high wind advisory is in place for Northampton County from Monday, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The weather service has also issued a coastal flood watch for Northampton, in effect Jan. 3, from 7-11 a.m.

Threats: Accumulating snow, gusty winds, minor to moderate coastal flooding. Gale and storm force winds on the marine side.

Timing: Early Monday morning through Monday afternoon.

Location: Highest snow amounts are expected to be along and north of a line from Farmville, Va., to Richmond, Va., to Salisbury, Md.
