The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va., has issued an updated briefing as of Jan. 3, 5:30 a.m., regarding the ongoing winter weather event.
Advisories:
- Winter Weather Advisory in effect Jan. 3, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (Accomack)
- Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from Jan. 3, 6 to 11 a.m. (Accomack)
- Wind Advisory in effect from Jan. 3, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (Northampton)
- Coastal Flood Warning until Jan.3, noon (Northampton)
- High Surf Advisory in effect from Jan. 3, 1 p.m., until Jan. 4, 5 a.m. (Northampton)
Threats: Accumulating snow, gusty winds, minor to moderate coastal flooding. Gale and storm force winds on the marine side.
Timing: Snow continues through this afternoon. Coastal flooding and marine winds gradually ease tonight and early Tuesday.
Location: Highest snow amounts are expected to be along and north of a line from Farmville, Va., to Richmond, Va., to Salisbury, Md.
