The Nandua Warriors faced off against the Arcadia Firebirds on Thursday, Jan. 27, at Nandua High School. In the two teams previous match-up, the Warriors pulled off a hard fought win after a back-and-forth battle until the final buzzer. In the first quarter, Nandua’s Jeremiah Riley started off on fire recording 9 points while Arcadia’s leading scorer, Kevin Cropper, added 7 for the Firebirds. At the end of the first quarter, Nandua was in the lead 20-9. Momentum quickly shifted in the second quarter, as the Firebirds offense began to warm up. Cropper added 11 more points to his total, while Arcadia’s defense held Nandua to only 8 points during that time. The Warriors were able to hold the lead going into the half, 28-27.

During the second half both teams were able to utilize their offenses more effectively. At the start of the final quarter the two teams were tied 46-46. Riley and Ny’zir Dix led Nandua’s offense in the fourth quarter putting up 16 points combined, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Firebirds. Arcadia pulled away for the victory with a final score of 66-62.

The Firebirds were led offensively by Cropper recording a game high 30 points. Nasir Dorsey added 12 points to the final score, while Zachary Giddens scored 12 as well.
