Mr. Luther Jerome “Bud” Miller, 88, of Atlantic, formerly of Railroad, Pa., passed away Feb. 17, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Crossroads, Pa., on Feb. 8, 1934, a son to the late Samuel and Flossie Miller.

Bud retired from the American Chain and Cable (ACCO), of York, Pa., as a superintendent. He was a member of Union Baptist Church Anglers Sunday School Class on Chincoteague Island, and was a former member of Turnpike Baptist Church in Shrewsbury, Pa. He served many years as a Republican committee officer. He was the caretaker for the railroad borough water facility. Over the years, he has made many friends with his love of helping others. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. He was well known for his canned preserves and produce. He was a member of many hunt clubs such as Ducks Unlimited, Jane Brown, and M&S. Bud loved his country and served in the U.S. Army. His love of the Lord and people he met will be greatly missed by all he knew.

Bud is survived by his loving spouse of 23 years, Betty Rae Miller, of Atlantic; son, David J. Miller, and his wife, Edwina, of New Freedom, Pa.; two daughters, Lisa Cooley, of Felton, Pa., and Sharon Kellison, of Horntown; stepdaughter, Ruth Ann Birch, of Chincoteague Island; three stepsons, Gary Daniel Daisey and his wife, Sandy, of Chincoteague Island, Matthew Daisey and his wife, Sherry, of Whithams, and Mark Daisey and his wife, Danielle, of Chincoteague Island; three adopted-in-love daughters, Mel, Mitzi, and Karen; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Justin, Briar, Jerimiah, Avery, Joshua, Chris, Todd, John, Tara, and Heather; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two adopted-in-love grandchildren, Seth and Kyle; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Catherine Noll Miller; two brothers, Claire and Truman; and two sisters, Katherine and Hilda.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at 2 p.m. (with a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.), at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.

There will be a second service Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at 2 p.m. (with a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.), at Turnpike Baptist Church in Shrewsbury, Pa., with Pastor Jeffery Feeser officiating.

Burial will take place in the St. John the Baptist Catholic in New Freedom, Pa., immediately following the service in Shrewsbury.
