The Rev. Robert L. Nock, 70, of Parksley, after enduring several years of illness, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, God allowed his earthly body to slip peacefully from labor to reward.

Born in Nelsonia, Robert was the son of the late Matthew T. and Elsie C. Nock. He married Yvonne Justice Nock and they shared their lives for 52 years. Robert received his education from the Accomack County Public schools. He also completed studies at the National Radio Institute and Capital Radio Engineering Institute, where he received associate degrees.

In 1972, Robert began what he called “an illustrious career” at NASA, Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island as an electronics technician. This employment spanned over 43 years.

He loved community service, having served terms on the Rural Health Board and the Planning District Commission, and as chairman of the Accomack County Zoning Board of Appeals (BZA), and on the Board of Directors, Accomack and Northampton Electric Cooperative (ANEC) serving District 1.

He was a member of Metompkin Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and served as chairman of the Deacons Ministry. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in December 2002, having been called to pastor St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Jamesville.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Wardtown, with the Rev. Milton P. Bunting officiating.

Left behind with memories galore are his wife, Yvonne J. Nock; daughter, Tracy Nock; nephew, Rev. S. Anthony Justice; granddaughter, Elise A. Britt; brothers, Ronnie Nock, Daniel Nock, and Kevin Nock; step-sister, Joan Wilson; brother-in-law, Reginald Justice Jr.; sisters-in-law, Sandra Justice and Loretta Curtis; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and special friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
