Broadwater’s Rylee Coates Places in Adidas Track Nationals Meet

Broadwater eighth grader Rylee Coates participated in the 2022 Adidas Track Nationals Meet March 18 to 20 in Virginia Beach. She competed for the Poseidon Pole Vault Club.

Coates came in first place in the girls middle school pole vault, clearing 2.58 meters or 8 feet, 5.5 inches mark, and winning the Adidas Track Indoor National Championship for middle school girls pole vault. For the long jump, she came in fourth place with 2.58 meters or 14 foot, 6 inches. For the triple jump, she was the only eighth grader to qualify against girls up to 12th grade. Coates finished in ninth place and set a new personal record of 35 feet, 1.75 inches. With her new personal record, she finished the 2022 indoor season in first place for the United States middle school girls triple jump. 

The previous weekend, Coates traveled to New York City to participate in the 2022 New Balance Nationals Indoor Track Meet. Coates competed unattached at the rising stars level against 53 other girls from ninth to 12th grade. She placed 22nd with 10.52 meters or 34 feet, 6.25 inches.
