Mrs. Helen Kathleen Wilds Colonna, 96, wife of the late Albert Colonna and a resident of Temperanceville, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md. A native of Wilmington, Del., she was the daughter of the late Harry Harrison Wilds and the late Kathleen Doherty Wilds. Helen was a graduate of the Northampton-Accomack School of Nursing, a retired registered nurse for Holly Farms, and a member of Downings United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt, and she enjoyed spending time with her family, looking at photos, playing canasta, and socializing with the Methodist women.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Anne Colonna and David Matthew Colonna; brother, Granville Harrison Wilds; grandson, David Matthew Colonna II, and his wife, Michelle; great-grandchildren, David Matthew “Trae” Colonna III and his girlfriend, Flor Saldana, Destiny Nicole Renee Colonna, Trinity Marie Nevaeh Colonna, Summer, Wesley, Ava, Noah, and Zoey; former daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn Kessell; niece, Karen Schimmel; numerous other nieces and nephews; great-nieces, Chelsea O’Leary and Christina O’Leary; great-nephews, Joshua Schimmel and Joseph O’Leary Jr.; former granddaughter-in-law, Shelly Payton, and her husband, Charles; and a special friend, Phillip Goba. She was predeceased by her loving son, Eric Thane Colonna, and brother, Harry Calvin Wilds.
To honor her wishes, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Downings United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 177, Oak Hall, VA 23416.
