Yellow Jackets Baseball Team Comes Up Short Against West Point

The Northampton Yellow Jackets varsity baseball team hosted West Point Monday, April 11. The Yellow Jackets lost 10-4.

The game was scoreless until West Point built a 5-0 lead in the fourth and fifth innings. In the seventh inning, the Yellow Jackets showed signs of life and scored four runs, but were still unable to slow down their opponent. In the top of the seventh inning, West Point scored five more runs to keep the game just out of the Yellow Jackets’ reach.

Tanner Feltes opened the game on the pitcher’s mound. Feltes allowed two hits and struck out four players. Aron Price and Charles Chapman pitched in relief. Price allowed four hits, walked three batters, and struck out one. Chapman allowed two hits, walked three batters, and struck out one.

Alex Courtney, Porter Spence, and Romano Onley led the Yellow Jackets’ offense with one hit apiece. Courtney, Brayden Buyrn, Feltes, and Colin Hopper each scored one run. 

The Yellow Jackets’ next home game is Friday, April 29, against Colonial Beach High School.
