Lady Warriors Softball Team Wins Close Game Against Vikings

The Broadwater Vikings varsity softball team hosted the Nandua Warriors Tuesday, April 26. The Warriors won 11-8.

The Warriors opened the game with a lot of offensive momentum. In the top of the first inning, the Warriors scored three runs, including a home run by Haylie Justice.The Vikings responded with a series of doubles by Chloe Hall, Kacey Ford, and Ramsey Revelle that produced three runs to tie the game. A single by Harlin Johnson allowed Haylely Nalls to score another run, giving the Vikings a 4-3 lead.

In the second inning, the Warriors and Vikings scored one run apiece. The third inning was scoreless. In the top of the fourth, the Warriors added four more runs and the Vikings answered with three runs to tie the game at 8. In the final inning, the Warriors outscored the Vikings 3-0 to capture the victory. 

Hintz led on the pitcher’s mound for the Warriors, giving up 10 hits, walking two batters, and striking out nine. On offense, Hintz had two hits and scored two runs. Logan Woerner also had two hits and scored two runs. Reagan Justice earned two hits and two RBIs. Jordan Crockett had one hit, four RBIs, and two runs. Justice, Mia Lecates, and Kylie Killmon each earned one hit.

For the Vikings, Revelle led on the pitcher’s mound, giving up nine hits and striking out two batters. Ford pitched in relief, giving up one hit, walking three batters, and striking out one. Taylor Leland led the offense with three hits, two RBIs, and three runs. Ford earned three hits, two RBIs, and one run. Hall, Revelle, Johnson, and Savannah Lunger each had one hit. 

The Warriors played again on Thursday, April 28, against the Chincoteague Ponies. The Vikings’ next home game is scheduled for Monday, May 2, against Hampton Christian High School.
