Ms. Virginia “Ginny” Wade, 74, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Commonwealth Senior Living on the Eastern Shore, in Onancock. Born April 13, 1947, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Hoyt E. Wade and the late Frances Pocket Wade.

For decades, Ginny resided in Woodbridge, Va., and was a longtime executive assistant at Watson Wyatt Company (now Willis Towers Watson) in Washington, D.C. She was originally introduced to the Eastern Shore by her former college roommate and lifelong friend, Tee Taylor Fair. The pair would visit Tee’s grandmother, Hattie Hickman, who treated Ginny as a second granddaughter. Following retirement in early 2000, she relocated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia and settled in the small bayside town of Onancock, fulfilling her dream of exploring the peaceful beauty of the Shore and enjoying the beach at Assateague Island. Throughout her life she was an avid animal lover. Ginny adored her pets and treated each of them as members of her family, a gentle kindness she extended to countless animals as an active volunteer with the Eastern Shore SPCA and Cat Rescue Inc., of Chesapeake, Va. She will be remembered by loved ones for her sense of humor and compassion toward others, both people and animals alike.

Ginny is survived by her brother, Mike Wade, of Surfside Beach, S.C.; niece, Amy Bradfield, and her family, of Haymarket, Va.; nephew, Clinton Wade, of Pooler, Ga.; as well as many dear friends, all of whom she considered family.

To honor her wishes, no public service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ginny’s memory may be made to the Eastern Shore SPCA, P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418 (www.shorespca.com).

Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com
