Northampton’s softball team took on the Lady Firebirds on April 28 in Oak Hall. Northampton stole the early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring three runs. Arcadia quickly responded in the bottom of the inning putting up 13. The Lady Yellow Jackets added two more in the top of the second but were unable to recover from Arcadia’s strong offense in the first. The Firebirds continued to score each inning and took the victory over the Yellow Jackets with a final score of 21-5.

Arcadia recorded a total of 16 hits in the game. Brianna Montross went 4-for-4 at the plate, leading the Firebirds’ offense. Logan Stapleton, Jayda Tull, and Alysia Wessells each had multiple hits on the day for Arcadia. The Firebirds took extra bases during the game, recording six doubles, two by Stapleton, two by Tull, and one each Wessells and Sydney Jester.

Jester earned the win on the mound for Arcadia in the district matchup. Jester threw a complete, five-inning game allowing five hits and five runs while striking out 11.

Northampton’s senior Mallory Hook led the Yellow Jackets going 2-for-3 at the plate. Charlotte Henderson, Marlena Dzurko, and Katelyn Leatherbury each had one hit in the game.
