Staff Report —
The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va., has issued an updated briefing as of 6 a.m., Sunday, May 8, regarding the developing coastal storm today into this week.
Overview and Impacts:

Moderate to major tidal flooding is expected along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic Ocean, and Virginia tidal rivers. Be prepared for high tide cycles to be well above astronomical high tide starting tonight through mid-week.

Winds may gust to as high as 50 mph near and along the Atlantic coastline.

Gale conditions are expected for the Chesapeake Bay, lower James River, Atlantic Ocean, and Currituck Sound through Tuesday.

Large breaking waves will also lead to instances of dune and beach erosion.
