The Nandua Warriors varsity softball team traveled to Eastville Thursday, May 5, to face the Northampton Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets were looking to avenge the 11-1 loss they had against the Warriors back in March. The Warriors won this matchup 12-1.

The Warriors built an early 1-0 lead in the second inning and scored six runs in the fifth inning to take command of the game. Following a series of outs by the Yellow Jackets, the Warriors scored six more runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach. The Yellow Jackets’ single run was scored by Peyton Sayers, following an error by Warriors’ first baseman Hailey Justice.

Reghan Hintz led on the pitcher’s mound, giving up two hits and striking out 12 batters. Kathleen McAuliffe, Logan Woermer, and Desiree LeCates each had one hit and scored two runs. Hintz, Justice, Peyton Truckner, and Kylie Killmon each earned one hit and scored one run. Jordan Crockett scored two runs.

For the Yellow Jackets, Jillian Spence served as pitcher. Spence struck out five batters. Hannah Locklear and Sayers led the offense with one hit apiece.
