Chincoteague’s Emma Jackson Places in VHSL Class 1 State Track Tournament

Members of the Chincoteague Ponies varsity track team traveled to the James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., Friday, June 3, to participate in the Virginia High School League Class 1A State Championship meet. 

Emma Jackson represented the Poneis well with medal winning performances. Jackson placed fourth in the long jump with a personal record of 16’ 2”, came in fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a personal record of 12.90 in the prelims, and earned seventh place in discus competition, throwing 96-04. 

Chincoteague placed 17th out of 32 teams in the team scoring. Aaron O’Shea placed 18th in 3,200-Meter Run with a 11:53.48 time. 

Jackson will continue her athletic career at Virgini Tech, where she will play softball this fall.
