Nandua Warriors Boys Soccer Team Advances to State Semifinals

On Tuesday, June 7, the Nandua Warriors soccer team hosted the 2022 Virginia Class 2 State Quarterfinal game against the Central Woodstock Falcons. The Falcons held a 16-4-1 record coming into the game and were awarded second in their region. The Warriors earned the host seed for quarterfinal after winning the Class 2 Region A Championship and holding a 14-1 overall record.

The Warriors came ready to fight against the Falcons, hoping to add another victory to its successful season. Noah Montalvo and Carlos Rodriguez each displayed standout play on defense while goalie Austin Shrieves recorded another clean sheet. 

Offensively, Nandua’s Jerardy Velasquez had an impressive outing scoring two of the four goals for the Warriors. Oscal Astave and Odin Bolster each recorded a goal in the 4-0 victory over Central Woodstock. Leo Bonilla had two assists while Will Harvie and Bryan Tinoco added one apiece. 

Nandua will now advance to the Virginia State Semifinals in Salem, Va. The Warriors are set to compete against Glenvar High School Friday, June 10, at 9 a.m.
