Mr. David Ray Warren Sr., 78, passed on July 4, 2022, with his family by his side at his home, Little Cove on Nandua Creek, where he has lived since he was a teenager. David loved the Chesapeake Bay and her creeks so much that upon retiring from the phone company after 31 years, he could be seen often in his boat cleaning up garbage on the water and beaches.

David graduated from Central High School in 1962 and joined the U.S. Navy, where he served proudly on the USS Enterprise (the big E). David was a lifelong Redskins fan and proud Democrat who believed in our country and the democratic process. He loved all animals, including his dogs, Max and Rain, and his cats, Moses and Elvira. David was known for his adventures – he always had a good story to tell! He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and drinking beer with his friends.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna Davenport Warren; children, Bonnie Warren Wallace (Daniel W. Killmon) and David Ray Warren Jr. (Megan Blair Warren); grandchildren, David Ray “Trey” Warren III and Marielle Gage Warren; and sister, Betty Dix (Irvin Dix). He was predeceased by his parents, Phillip Jackson Warren and Myrtle Dalby Warren; brothers, Phillip Dalby Warren and William Richard Webb Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth Webb Knight. He leaves behind many special friends, but most of all he leaves a legacy.

To honor his request, no services will be held.

Services were entrusted to Williams & Wharton Funeral Home in Accomac.

“When do you think people die? When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom? No! It’s when they are forgotten.” Dr. Hiluluk (One Piece)
