Mr. William Parks “Bill” ­Hickman, 78, of Temperanceville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore in Onancock. Born April 1, 1944, in Onley, he was the only child of William Oswald Hickman and Theda Parks Hickman, both deceased.

Bill was a graduate of Onancock High School, class of 1962. For many years he worked in sales, most notably in the men’s department at Glick & Sons, which led him to open the famed Bill Hickman’s Clothing Store in Four Corner Plaza. Bill owned and operated Hickman’s for nearly two decades, retiring in 1994. He was a longtime member and past Master Mason of Central Lodge No. 300 A.F. & A.M. and past Worthy Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Linda Helen Albright Hickman. He is survived by his daughters, Annie Parkes and her husband, Tom, of Parksley, and Louella Mavromatis and her husband, Arthur, of Chincoteague; grandchildren, Kaitlynn Parkes, of Parksley, Chelsie Kenlon and her husband, Bill, of New Church, and Dillon Hickman, of Chincoteague; great-granddaughters, Makayla and Haliegh; stepsons, Brian Plant and his wife, Darlene, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Steven Plant and his wife, Jennifer, of Box Elder, S.D.; stepgrandchildren, Kody, Kyle, Sarah, Emma, and Laynie Plant; his dog and best bud, Cooper; and his neighbors, Eric and Denise, whose constant care, love, and compassion for Bill will be forever remembered and appreciated by his family.

Funeral services, with Masonic Rites, will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at 11 a.m., with George Fulk officiating.
