Cancellation of Holly Day

November 28, 2020

Because of the rise in COVID-19 infection rates and concerns for public health and safety, the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance (CCA) has cancelled the Holly Day Market scheduled for November 28. To reach many of the arts, crafts, and food vendors who would have been at the Market, visit Chincoteague Island Farmers and Artisans Market on Facebook. “Shopping local is more important than ever,” said Markets Manager Alex Hubb. “Be sure to visit the Island’s wonderful small businesses, too.”

Shoppers can also browse and bid on hundreds of items in an online auction to benefit CCA. The auction features artwork, decoys, framed duck stamps, antique furniture, glassware, china, oriental rugs, a Nissan outboard engine, household items and tools of all kinds. Bidding is underway now until December 6.  The online platform makes it easy to make a single or maximum bid and to keep track as bidding ends on each lot.  Visit chincotagueca.org for details.

CCA’s popular Kids Art classes have also gone virtual. Each month, supplies for new craft projects and videos about how to do them are available for free. Visit chincotagueca.org. to sign up for the next free craft packet.

Also, beginning December 6, CCA is offering a variety or arts and crafts classes including making a natural wreath from fresh greens or a vintage paper wreath, painting shell ornaments, using Instagram for your business, playing with alcohol inks, sketching the horse in motion, making beach themed poured resin art and making mosaic picture frames.  Pre-registration is required at chincotagueca.org. Classes will be held at the Island Community House, 6246 Mumford Street.
