Free Herb Symposium

May 12, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Eastern Shore of Virginia Master Gardeners will offer a free Herb Symposium
to the public on May 12, at the Historic Onancock School. The program begins at
10:00 am and, weather permitting, will conclude with a tour of the Ker Place
garden which features a Jeffersonian style herb/kitchen garden using historically
accurate plants from the 18th century.
Cindy Wyskiewicz, Extension Agent – Unit Coordinator of Environmental
Horticulture for the City of Portsmouth, will teach you how to grow herbs
successfully in Virginia. Basic Herb culture, ways to harvest and the best methods
to preserve your harvest will be included in this talk. The types and uses of
common culinary herbs will be discussed. Touching and smelling the herbs will be
encouraged in this lecture.
Seating is limited to 60 on a first-come-first-serve basis, so plan to arrive early to
insure available seating.
