“Monday Nights at Main and Munford”
The Chincoteague Island Arts Organization announces a summer-long series of Monday
night programs in the Island Theatre Annex at 4076 Main St. “Monday Nights at Main
and Mumford”, sponsored by the Eastern Shore Post, will consist of diverse
performances and programs starting at 7 p.m. each Monday.
The first program in the series will be on July 1, and will feature the 56-minute
award-winning documentary film, “The Wild Ponies of Chincoteague”, the heart-
warming story of a young woman who was able to acquire a Chincoteague pony with
the help of the Feather Fund and how her experience allowed her to overcome her
bouts of severe depression. The film director, Kurt Kolaja, will be in attendance to
lead an interactive discussion of how the film came about. He will also show his short
film about the fishing boats and crews that leave Chincoteague harbor to harvest the
bounty of the Atlantic. Admission is $5 (children under 12 accompanied by an adult
admitted free.)
Future Monday programs include musical performers, a magician, lecturers, a puppet
show, and two special evenings celebrating the 50 th anniversaries of the Apollo 11
moon landing and Woodstock. Some programs are offered through arrangements with
Sundial Books and the Chincoteague Island Library. Admission prices will vary with
each program. Visit www.ciarts.com or our Facebook page for more information.
