The Music at the Dock concert series on Chincoteague begins on Saturday, July 2, at 7 pm, with a salute to America’s birthday. The Salisbury Community Band will perform a lively mix of music from patriotic songs to light classical and show tunes, that is fun for the whole family. The concert is free in Robert Reed downtown waterfront park at 7 pm. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
Music at the Dock is presented by the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance (CCA) and its co-sponsor Seaside Vacations. The next concert is on Sunday, July 24, featuring Front Page News, a high energy band playing classic to modern rock. On Friday, August 12, the bluegrass band Cane Mill Road, featuring Chincoteague’s own Colton Kershner on banjo, will perform. The final show on Sunday, September 4, brings back the very popular Caribbean steel drum band CAISO.
CCA also presents live music at each Chincoteague Island Farmers & Artisans Market, which takes place on Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm at 6309 Church Street. Enjoy a variety of performers while you shop for fresh local produce, seafood, and other edibles, plus quality arts and crafts.
CCA’s calendar of summer events includes free Monday Movies in Robert Reed Park. The next one on July 11 is “Babe, Pig in the City”, a quirky comedy sequel to “Babe”. For more information on these and many other events visit Chincoteagueca.org.
