Computers as Scientific Instruments
Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled its next seminar, “Computers as Scientific Instruments.” The free 90-minute seminar will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1 in the Lecture Hall of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29300 Lankford Hwy, Melfa, VA 23410.
Josh Hall will discuss how in the past half century the computer has become ubiquitous and indispensable in science, superseding or transmogrifying instruments that have been used for a millennium or more.
Hall has used computers in science since the 1970s, simulating everything from molecules to jumbo jets, including computers themselves. He lives here on the Shore.
